GEOFF RICCO
Teardrop Camper Design & Build
My homemade camper laid the foundation for what would eventually become my own business, Terracraft Outdoors. Prior to this project, I owned someone else's homemade camper, which sparked an idea to see if I could make one in my own way. It was a great opportunity to learn to fabricate and to apply the engineering design process outside of work from start to finish, all in a tiny shared garage in Austin, TX.
My main goal was to create something on a budget that enabled dispersed ("off-grid") camping and was comfortable to use in all four seasons, while appealing to my own interpretation of utility and industrial design. This trailer has over 30k miles of travel to date and is a sentimental artifact of my engineering career.
